Cloby’s signature UV-protective fabric: What you need to know about natural sun protection
What our signature fabric contains
Cloby’s UV-protective products are made from a thoughtfully chosen blend of organic cotton and bamboo. Both are natural, breathable fibers known for their softness and comfort, making it the perfect choice for your little one’s sensitive skin.
The bamboo we use comes from Moso timber bamboo, grown in an OCIA-certified organic forest. This ensures our fabric is as sustainable as it is soft.
The combination of organic cotton and bamboo creates a lightweight yet durable fabric that’s not only gentle and thermoregulating but also naturally UV-protective. That means your little one can stay cool, comfy, and covered, without the need for chemical coatings.
How natural sun protection works
The secret lies in the structure of the fibers and the density of the weave. Bamboo fibers have a unique, round shape with tiny micro-gaps that help block and reflect harmful UV rays. When combined with tightly woven organic cotton, the result is a fabric that offers UPF 50+ sun protection — meaning it blocks over 98% of the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.
This natural protection is inherent to the fabric itself. It’s not sprayed on or coated afterward, but rather built into the material, ensuring the protection lasts wash after wash.

Tested & Certified: EN 13758-1
We take sun safety seriously. To guarantee our products truly protect your little ones, every Cloby UV item is independently tested according to the EN 13758-1 standard, the European benchmark for UV-protective clothing.
During testing, the fabric is exposed to simulated sunlight to measure how much UV radiation it lets through. Our fabric consistently achieves a UPF 50+ rating, meaning your little one’s skin is protected to the highest standard, so you can relax and enjoy your time outdoors together.
Designed for real life with little ones
Our fabric isn’t just about sun protection, it’s about making life on the go easier. Lightweight, breathable, and soft to the touch, it’s designed to handle every moment: from stroller naps in the sunshine to playtime at the beach or quiet cuddles at home.
Because as parents ourselves, we know that comfort, safety, and practicality should go hand in hand.

Frequently asked questions
Will the UV protection wash out over time?
Will the UV protection wash out over time?
No, and that’s the beauty of it. Because Cloby’s UV protection comes from the natural composition and weave of the fabric, it doesn’t rely on any added chemicals that can fade or wash away. This means your Cloby item will keep protecting your little one, season after season.
However, please note: excessive washing could cause the fabric to wear out, which also affects the sun protection in the long term.
Why do most brands use chemical coatings?
Why do most brands use chemical coatings?
Many UV-protective products on the market use chemical coatings to achieve their sun-blocking properties. These coatings are often added after the fabric is made, which means the protection sits on the surface rather than being part of the fiber itself.
While this coating can be effective at first, these coatings tend to wear off over time, especially with frequent washing, sunlight exposure, or sweat. They can also make the fabric less breathable and less comfortable for little ones’ sensitive skin. That’s why we choose a different approach: natural protection through smart design, not chemicals.
